Rivers are the part and parcel of any civilization. In the United States there are quite a number of rivers. Rivers are known in terms of length, water volume, and so on. Likewise, the credit for the longest river goes to Missouri River, a Mississippi River tributary. It has a total length close to 2,540 miles. The Mississippi River which is world famous is known for its water volume. There are as many as 250,000 rivers in the US. The total length of the rivers measure about 3,500,000 miles. Rivers are used for several purposes. They are used for irrigation, transportation, generating electrical power, drainage, drinking requirements, and much more.
